Somewhere between 4.1p1 an 4.3p2, the -i option for sshd "broke". I built 4.3p2 using the same options as 4.1p1 on Solaris 9. I use the same configuration files for both versions 4.3p2 produces the following syslog message when executed via inetd : Jul 16 17:21:45 <hostname> sshd[20024]: [ID 800047 auth.crit] fatal: Connection from xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx with IP options: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 inetd entry: backdoor stream tcp6 nowait root /opt/OPENssh/current/sbin/sshd sshd -i Inorder to avoid posting "useless" infomation, I will wait to hear from you regarding what other information you may want to track down this bug.
