Description guyverdh 2001-11-15 04:10:56 AEDT
We have a need to transfer a 7GB file via a secure transfer method.

When attempting to transfer this 7GB file via sftp we get the following message.

File "filename" not found.

I've tried renaming the file to different names, placing in different directories with different permissions to no avail.

This is with 2.9.9p2 and 3.0p1. I've tried different version combinations, with Solaris 5.8 (4/1 and 10/1 releases) , AIX 4.3.3 and HP/UX 10.20 and
HP/UX 11.00

do both scp/scp and sftp/sftp-server systems have largefiles
support? i have tested this previously between hp-ux 11 and
openbsd. on hp-ux for example, the filesystem must be mounted
with -o largefiles. cannot dup at this time.

Both systems are set with the ability for "large-files". As the files can be
transferred via tape, and normal ftp (temporary hole opening for testing).

Also noted that sftp was about 1/3 to 2/3 the speed of scp when dealing with
files in the 50-100 MB range.

Source Box - IBM S7a, running AIX 4.3.3 with Maintenance Level 7.
Dest Box - either IBM p640, running AIX 4.3.3 with ML7
or SUNFire 3800, running Solaris 5.8 10/01 release with patches.

Doing some additional testing to narrow the problem down after putting 3.0.2p1
in place on most of the platforms (Sun, AIX).

When copying from Solaris to Solaris, or Solaris to HPUX or Solaris to AIX it
appears to not have a problem.

When initiating the copy from AIX 4.3.3 ML9, and PSSP (not sure which level),
it shows the previous symptoms.

It appears to be an AIX only problem.

Will try to rebuild it and snag the configure output for analysis.
Comment 7 guyverdh 2002-02-14 05:51:39 AEDT
After additional testing, it appears to be an AIX problem all to itself.

If running the same build on AIX 4.3.3 with Maintenance Level 7, the problem
exists.

If running the same build on AIX 4.3.3 with Maintenance Level 9, the problem
does not exist.

Fix - Install maintenance level 9.
