With X11 forwarding enabled, I am unable to view xterms (and other x-window based programs) compiled against X11R5. The error returned is: Error: Can't open display: bass:11.0 Error: Couldn't find per display information For the error above the command line was "/usr/bin/X11/xterm" However, "/usr/contrib/bin/X11/xterm" works correctly.
on 11.11, /usr/bin/X11/xterm does work, and is using R5 libs. i don't have 11.00 to test. do you have the latest X11 runtime patch? is the display set to the hostname IP address?

I finally resolved the problem. (insert excuse here) I assumed that the person who installed the system did it correctly and I didn't check for the existance of /etc/nsswitch.conf. nslookup's and other DNS queries worked. Once I created the conf file, the "per display info" problem went away. BTW, I was using TUSC, but I didn't see where nsswitch.conf was getting checked (not a bug).
